HAM W. “BUDDY” GRIGGS, JR. FLORENCE, SC Ham W. “Buddy” Griggs, Jr., 88, of Florence, passed away on Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at a local healthcare facility. Mr. Griggs was born in Darlington County, the son of the late Sarah Alma Adams Griggs and Ham W. Griggs, Sr.He was a faithful and active member of First Free Will Baptist Church since 1953 and served as Sunday School Department Secretary for over fifty-five years.He graduated from Draughon’s Business College of Columbia, SC andretired from Koppers Company after over thirty-four years of service. Mr. Griggs was preceded in death by his parents, and seven brothers and sisters. Surviving are his loving wife of sixty-two years, Lila Mae Strickland Griggs, and his sisters, VistaMorse of Tecumseh, MI, Elizabeth Sauer of Monroe, WI and Sarah “Nellie” Braddock of Columbia, SC. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, February 17, 2013 at First Free Will Baptist Church.Burial will follow at Swift Creek Baptist Church Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
