Grady A. Tippit

Grady A. Tippit, Jr, 78, of Florence, SC passed away on Monday, May 30, 2016. Mr. Tippit was born in Florence County, a son of the late Grady A. Tippit, Sr. and Rebecca Hewitt Tippit.He was a member of the Army National Guard, a life member of the “Air Defense Team”, a former deacon of Truth Chapel PHC, an active board member of Leatherman Senior Center and a former board member of Pee Dee Transitional Shelter.Mr. Tippit was a graduate of the Class of 1957 at McClenaghan and Carolina College of Commerce.He worked as a counselor and case manager at Pee Dee Community Action Agency. He retired from Pee Dee Community Action Agency. Surviving are his wife, Christine S. Tippit; daughter, Lisa T. (Christopher DuBose) Cusack and son, Grady A. “Andy” (Melissa) Tippit, III, both of Florence, SC; sisters, Loretta (John) Rivers of Florence, Sandra (Marvin) Garrett of Greensboro, NC and Dianne (Larry) Morganti of Florence; special sister-in-law, Mary Jean Smith of Florence; grandchildren, Ashley C. Hanna, Brandon N. (Tina) Cusack, Chrissy Cusack, Kellen A. Tippit and Jonathan P. DuBose; and great-grandchildren, Logan Hanna, Hailey Hanna, and Braxton Thornsbury. Funeral services will be held at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2016.Burial will follow at Garden of Memories.
