Gloria A. Alfarone 94, passed peacefully surrounded by her family on December 1, 2018.Gloria was born in 1924 to Elizabeth and Martin Walsh in NYC.Gloria met and married her “Ru” in 1950 and celebrated 61 years of marriage before his passing in 2011.Gloria and Rudy spent 40 wonderful years in Florence, South Carolina where Gloria worked as a bookkeeper for St. Anthony’s parish and volunteered at McLeod hospital.Gloria lived her life and raised her children with two devotions:faith and family. Gloria is predeceased by her husband, Rudolph “Rudy” Alfarone and her brothers, James Walsh and Martin T. Walsh, Jr. She is survived by her three children, Barbara Ann Potter (Jack) of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, Mark Joseph Alfarone of Tampa, FL, and David Matthew Alfarone of Charleston, SC; three grandchildren; Lauren Elizabeth Potter, Maxwell Dickson Potter and Christopher Matthew Alfarone, all of Tampa, FL; and a number of nieces and nephews. Gloria will be remembered for the twinkle in her eyes, joyful spirit, quick wit and as a devoted mother, grandmother and friend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 10, 2018, at St Anthony Catholic Church. There will be a private entombment at Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 6:00 PM on Sunday, December 9, 2018, at the funeral home.Family will receive friends immediately following the service.
