Gladys Allen Ward

Gladys Allen Ward, 93, of Darlington, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2017, surrounded by her family. Mrs. Ward was born a daughter of the late, Robert C. Allen and Lelia Mae Craps Allen born on January 14, 1924, in Columbia, SC.She was a retired bookkeeper.Mrs. Ward was a former member of Salem Baptist Church where she served as Discipleship Training Director and Sunday School Teacher.At the time of her death, she was an active member of Florence Baptist Temple, Senior Adults, and Gluten Intolerance Group, both of Florence, SC. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ward was predeceased by her husband, Clyde Edward Ward, Sr; brothers, Robert Lewis Allen and Charles Emory Allen, Sr.; and two sons-in-law, Lawrence Hester and Archie Boylan. She is survived by her daughters, Marie Hester and Linda M. Boylan; son, Clyde Edward Ward, Jr. (Penny); seven grandchildren, Bruce Hester, David Hester, Diane Hester Roets, Shari Jones Bowker, April Jones, JoAnne Jones, and Marian Ward Osborne; twelve great-grandchildren, and one super duper great-great granddaughter. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2017, at Florence Baptist Temple directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.A private burial will take place at Florence National Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Friday at Florence Baptist Temple.
