Gilbert Clifton Fowler

Gilbert Clifton Fowler, 82, of Florence, passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 in a Charleston hospital after an illness. Mr. Fowler was born in Loris, SC a son of the late Harvey W. Fowler and Gwendolyn Fowler.He was a US Navy veteran having served in the Korean War, retired from the SC Highway Patrol after 15 years of service and was a member of Unity Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frank Fowler and L.H. Fowler and sisters, Estelle Auld and Gladys Fowler. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Delia Robinson Fowler of Florence; daughter, Terry (Tim) Spivey of Summerville, SC; brothers, Everett Fowler and Buddy (Wilma) Fowler, both of Loris, SC; grandchildren, Aron (Mike) Jackson of Summerville, SC and Matthew Spivey of James Island, SC; great-grandchildren, Luke, Noah and Harper Spivey and Lilly and Emma Jackson. Memorials may be made to Unity Baptist Church Flower Fund, 2990 South Pamplico Highway, Florence, SC29505. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, November 6, 2015 at Unity Baptist Church.Burial will follow in the Florence National Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
