Gertrude "Trudie" Funderburk

Gertrude “Trudie” Funderburk, of Evergreen, South Carolina, went to be with her Lord on Friday, 29 June 2018; she was 92 years old.She passed peacefully in Pfafftown, North Carolina, in the home of her daughter, where she had resided for the past twelve years. Born in Pageland, South Carolina, Trudie lived most of her life in the Evergreen community of Florence county, where she was a long-time member of the Evergreen Baptist Church. Married in 1944 to the late Odette W. Funderburk, she was a faithful wife for 48 years, until her husband’s death in 1992.An employee of Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Company, she completed her 27 years of service in 1983 as a Toll Tester. Mrs. Funderburk is survived by her four children and their spouses. They are Gail and Ron Davis of Pfafftown, North Carolina, Happy and Veta Funderburk of Midwest City, Oklahoma, Hal and Cindy Funderburk of Florence, South Carolina, and Glenn and Susan Funderburk of Conyers, Georgia.She also has twelve grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at Evergreen Baptist Church on Friday, 6 July 2018 with visitation at 2 PM and memorial service at 3 PM.Interment will follow at the church cemetery where she will be placed beside her beloved husband directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, Trudie would prefer donations to the Evergreen Baptist Church Kitchen Fund.
