Gerald M. Burns, 85, of Florence, SC, passed away on June 1, 2025, at McLeod Hospice House.
Mr. Burns was born in Youngstown, OH, the son of the late Eileen Connelly Burns and James M. Burns. He was a veteran of the US Army as a helicopter pilot. He served in active duty for six years, including a year in Vietnam with the First Air Cavalry Division. Gerry worked in the contract office furniture industry for 57 years to include Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Raleigh and Florence. He made many lasting friendships and was highly respected in this field. He was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church and a Fourth-Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Burns was an avid golfer, loved football and baseball, and especially loved spending time with his family and going to the beach.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy Burns; sons, Michael Burns (Kaleen), James Burns (Terri), Daniel Burns (Pearl) and Brian Burns (Elisabeth); grandchildren, Kaitlyn Burns, Melissa Burns, Sarah Burns, Emma Burns, Natalie Burns and Luke Burns.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 20, 2025, at St. Ann Catholic Church, 113 S. Kemp Street, Florence, SC directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
Inurnment with Military Funeral Honors will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, June 20, 2025, at the Florence National Cemetery.
