Georgie Lee Green Dowdy

Georgie Lee Green Dowdy, 80, of Florence, passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2017. Mrs. Dowdy was born the daughter of the late Steadmond Green and Ashton Strickland Green. She was a member of Eastside Free Will Baptist Church. Mrs. Dowdy had been employed by GE and in the textiles industry and retired from Tomlinson Wholesale. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Charles L. Dowdy; brother, William Green (Onda); sisters, Carrie Nance (Bobby) and Amanda Oliver; nieces Gloria “Billy” Matthews and Priscilla Bochette and several other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, September 21, 2017, in the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel.Burial will follow in Florence National Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Gloria Matthews.
