GEORGE EDWARD SANFORD FLORENCE, SC George Edward Sanford, 93, previously of Norfolk, VA, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 23, 2014, at his daughter’s residence in Florence, SC. Mr. Sanford was born in Windsor, NC, a son of the late John and Sarah Sanford.He was a member of the Azalea Garden Church in Virginia Beach. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife of 74 years, Ruby V. Sanford, who passed away on December 27, 2013, and his son, George “Mel” Sanford. He is survived by his children, Joan Brandon and her husband, David of Florence and Terry Sanford and his wife, Sharon of Virginia Beach; daughter-in-law, Gerry Sanford of Chesapeake, VA; 10 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and many other loving family members and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January, 28, 2014, at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, VA (757-671-1717). Burial will follow in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Tuesday.
