George John Poulos, 80, of Florence, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at McLeod Hospice House. Mr. Poulos was born in Klapsi, Greece, a son of the late John George Poulos and Anastatia Fragakis Poulos.He was the owner and operator of 301 Drive In and Hot Dog King.He was a member of AHEPA, The Evrytanian Association of America-Velouch, the Mecca Masonic Lodge, York Rite and Omar Temple. Mr. Poulos was a member of Transfiguration of Our Savior Greek Orthodox Church and served as a past president of the Board at the Church. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Rita Sitaris. Surviving are his wife of fifty -eight years, Helen Kiritsis Poulos; his daughters, Anastatia “Ann” (Dino) Chavis of Florence, Christine (Benny) Friar of Little Rock, AK and Doris (Pat) O’Hara of Florence; five grandchildren, Stephanie C.(Justin) Arenas, Gina C. Chavis, Elaina F. (Kevin) Moyer, Mary Friar, and Joseph Poulos O’Hara; one great-grandchild, Joaquin Thomas Arenas; and his sister, Olga Keretses of Florence. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2014, at Transfiguration of Our Savior Greek Orthodox Church.Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Friday, December 26, 2014, at Transfiguration of Our Savior Greek Orthodox Church with a Trisagion Service beginning at 6:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Transfiguration of Our Savior Greek Orthodox Church, Building Fund, 2990 S.
