George Franklin "Frank" Cox

June 15, 1960 — April 26, 2017

Black Mountain, NC George Franklin “Frank” Cox, III, formerly of Pamplico, passed away Wednesday April 26, 2017 after an illness. Frank was born in Florence, a son of Marilyn Coleman Cox Barnes and the late Dr. George Franklin Cox, Jr. He was full of life, and loved his family. He truly enjoyed Special Olympics and was active for many years with them. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Boone, NC. In addition to his mother, he is survived by 2 sisters; Nancy (Jeff) Cochrane and Lisa (Rick) Davis; 2 brothers; Coleman (Sherry) Cox, Cameron (Bruna) Cox; 8 nieces and nephews; Michael (Megan) Jameson, Brent Jameson, Dr. Caroline Cochrane, Catherine Cochrane, Sydney Cox, Anna Cox, Porter George Cox and Leo Benjamin Cox. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Beulah Baptist Church in Hyman. The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 P.M. at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Special Olympics in Frank’s name, 109 Oak Park Drive Irmo, SC 29063.
