George Anthanasios Bakas

George Bakas, 78, of Florence, SC, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, March 8, 2015.He was born on July 15, 1936, in Vraila, Greece and was the son of Athanasios and Maria Bakas. He is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-five years, Helen Bakas; his children, John (Stacy) Bakas of Florence, SC, Maria (Mike) Singletary of Florence, SC and Tom (Tiffany) Bakas of Burbank, CA; grandchildren, Eleni (Aaron) Gotter, Alexandra (Devyn) Gainey, Niko and Scott Bakas and Eleni and George Bakas; and great-grandchildren, Elias and Isaac Gotter. May his memory be eternal. A Trisagion Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at the Transfiguration of Our Savior Greek Orthodox Church.The family will receive friends following the Trisagion Service in the Fellowship Hall. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2015, at Transfiguration of Our Savior Greek Orthodox Church.Burial will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
