Gary Alan Eliason 64, of Florence, South Carolina, passed away Friday, October 2, 2026.
He was the son of the late Donald Lee Eliason and Carol Saunders Eliason.
He will be remembered for the many things he loved in life, especially fishing and coaching. A devoted USC Gamecock fan (now proudly supporting the USC Upstate Spartans, where his youngest daughter plays softball). He enjoyed cheering on his team and sharing his love of sports with those around him. He has made a positive impact in so many players lives. He will forever be remembered for his kindness, empathy, and supportive words he was always ready to share. Above all, his greatest joy came from his wife, children, and grandchildren, who were the center of his world. His love, guidance, and memories will live on through them and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Steve Eliason.
He is survived by his wife, Melanie Eliason; son, Gary Alan Eliason II (Bethany Kenderdine); daughters, Danielle Eliason (Tyson) Hubbard, Courtney Nicole Eliason (Joseph Coker), and Annie Ruth Eliason; grandchildren, Tyson Hubbard and Theodore Kenderdine; brother, Greg Eliason; sisters, Sharon Eliason and Donna Eliason; and his nieces.
The family will receive friends and family on Saturday, October 10, 2026 from 10:00-11:00 am with the memorial service to follow at 11:00 am at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
