Fred Tillman Shaw

Fred T. Shaw, Jr., 72, of Florence, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, while in the McLeod Hospice House from an extenuating illness on Friday, January 25, 2019. Mr. Shaw was born in Hartsville, SC a son of the late Fred T. Shaw, Sr. and Ida Bonita Ingram Shaw.He graduated from Hartsville High School, Class of 1964. After graduation, he went on to attend Piedmont Bible College in Winston-Salem, N.C. He was employed with Sonoco as in intern while in college. In 1966, Fred married Margie Karen Shaw of Lexington, N.C.He graduated from college and worked with S.C. Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ)and later became DJJ Director over Florence and Marion counties. While employed with the state, he was nominated and became recognized as Employee of the Year for S.C. School for Boys, Goldsmith Reception and Evaluation Center, and as Director of DJJ for Florence county. In 2000, Fred retired from the DJJ because of health issues.He worked part time for 5 years at Clantons Auto Sales. Some of his hobbies included hunting, fishing, and camping with family and friends.He was a very dedicated and supportive husband and father. He is survived by his wife, Margie, two sons Jeffrey Allen Shaw (Shannon Rogers) and Gregory E. Shaw (Amy Altman), all of Florence, S.C. He has two grandchildren Alexander Allen Shaw and Casey Allen Shaw.Mr. Shaw is also survived by his sister Bonnie Edwards and niece Maree Robb (Anthony Robb).Mr. Shaw also has a great niece Bella Robb and two great nephews Branton Robb and Colton Robb. Memorials may be made to the Florence Baptist Temple, 2308 South Irby Street, Florence, SC 29505. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 am Wednesday, January 30, 2019 in the Florence Baptist Temple Chapel with the service to follow at 11:00.Burial will take place in Mount Hope Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
