Francis J. Ward Florence, SC Francis J. Ward, 97, of Florence, passed away on February 05, 2015 at a Local Hospital. Mr. Ward was born in Marcellus, New York a son of the late Robert Patrick Ward and Mary Ellen Leonard Ward.He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and retired from the government as a Special Investigator for the US Labor Department after 30 years of service.He was an avid golfer having been the Syracuse Champion Golfer several times during his youth. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Christina E. Barbu Ward of 73 years, who passed away on June 2, 2014; 5 brothers and 3 sisters. Surviving are his son, Michael P. Ward (Julie) of Charleston; his grandchildren, Maureen Shealy, Karen Howle and Matthew Ward and his eight great-grandsons, Nicholas, Russell and Patrick Shealy, Benjamin, Jonathan and Samuel Howle and Logan and Sean Ward. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the McLeod Hospice of the Pee Dee, PO Box 100551, Florence, SC29502, www.mcleodfoundation.org. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 in the Chapel of the Methodist Manor of the Pee Dee. Burial will follow at Florence National Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 9:00 am – 10:00 am Tuesday prior to the service at the Methodist Manor of the Pee Dee.
