Frances Bruce Oakley

Frances Bruce Oakley Effingham, SC Frances Bruce Oakley, 94, of Effingham, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2013 after an illness. Mrs. Oakley was born in Johnsonville, SC a daughter of the late Archie E. Bruce and Theresa Hazelton Bruce.She attended Johnsonville schools and was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church.Mrs. Oakley lived independently for the past 30 years with the help, support and encouragement from her granddaughter, Fran Gray and Fran’s husband, Charles. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Otis G. Oakley; brothers, Carson Bruce, Jay Bruce, William “Bill” Bruce, Heyward Bruce and Archie E. Bruce, Jr. and a sister, Nesbitt Overstreet. Surviving are her sons, Tom (Sandi) Oakley of Gray, GA and Bruce (Kathy) Oakley of Greenville, SC; daughter, Theresa (Conrad) Ridings of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Fran (Charles) Gray, Greg Oakley, Susan (Clint) Postel, Jenny (Adam) Lankford and Jessica Oakley and four great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lebanon Free Will Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 13927, Florence, SC29504. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, April 20, 2013 in the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home chapel.Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories. The family will receive friends from 1:30 – 3:00 PM Saturday prior to the service. The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of McLeod Hospice House for their care and kindness shown to Mrs. Oakley and Fran.
