Florene Walker Bell

Ellen Florene Walker Bell, 89, died Monday, October 6, 2014, at McLeod Hospital after an illness. Mrs. Bell was born in Castalia, NC, a daughter of the late Thomas Harry Walker and Lena Brown Walker. Her husband of 58 years, William McKinley Bell, Jr., died in 2001. She graduated from USC at Florence as a Registered Nurse. She worked at Oak Haven Nursing Home in Darlington, Saunders Memorial Hospital, Florence General Hospital, Commander Nursing Home, the Crippled Children’s Home and also did private duty nursing.She was a charter member of Unity Baptist Church. Surviving are four sons, William McKinley Bell, III, MD (Roxanne) of Maryville, TN, Marion Wayne Bell (Janice) of Florence, Michael Stanley Bell (Betty) of Florence, and Jeffery Lynn Bell (Hazel) of Hartsville; four grandsons, Wayne Bell, Jr. of Carthage, NC, Andrew Bell (Leigh) of Florence, Jim Bell (Ada) of Houston, and William Bell of Hartsville; two granddaughters, Tracy Horton (Brett) of Valrico, FL and Amy Bustos (Elias) of Simpsonville, SC; three great-grandsons, Gage Horton (Chelsey) of Groton,Conn., Spencer Horton of Valrico, FL, and Luca Bell of Knoxville, TN; and three great-granddaughters, Sophie Bell of New Orleans, Marcela Bustos of Simpsonville, and Ansleigh Bell of Florence. She was preceded in death by a son, Donald Foster Bell, of Columbia; a sister, Elsie Mae Walker and three brothers, Sydney Walker, Cleveland Walker and Raymond Walker, all of Rocky Mount, NC. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2014, at Unity Baptist Church directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.Entombment will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
