Evelyn James Bridgers Florence, SC Evelyn James Bridgers, 89, died Tuesday evening, February 5, 2013 at her residence after an illness. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 8, 2013 in the Florence Baptist Temple. Entombment will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Mrs. Bridgers was born in Florence, SC a daughter of the late Judge Meredith and Ida Lucille Binnicker James Norvell. She retired from McLeod Regional Medical Center, where she was employed as a switchboard operator. She was a charter member of the Florence Baptist Temple and was a member of the Senior Adult Sunday School Class. She had taught Sunday School for 35 years. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Graham Davie Bridgers, who died December 4, 1999; daughter, Nellie B. Worrell and 3 brothers. Surviving are 2 sons, Graham Davie Bridgers, III and Hugh Fitzgerald (Wanda) Bridgers both of Florence; daughters, Rose B. (Clyde) Mixon, Leona B. (Richard) Moran both of Florence and Sarah B. (Jan) Hatchell of Taylors, SC; sister, Sarah J. Anderson of Florence; 15 grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday at the Funeral Home.
