Evander Powers Brown Florence, SC Evander Powers Brown, 88, of Florence, died Monday morning, July 2, 2012 at Pee Dee Gardens after an illness. Mrs. Brown was born in Marion Co., SC a daughter of the late James LeGrand Powers and Ethel Lee Foxworth Powers.She was a member of College Park Baptist Church where she taught the Esther Sunday School Class and a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and the Pilot Club of Darlington.She retired in 1979 as Manager of Operator Services from Southern Bell. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Franklin Edward "F.E." Brown, Jr., who died in 1987 and by a sister, Lounita Ward. Surviving are her daughters, Judy Bolger of Florence, Cynthia (Marshall) McLeod of Florence, Terry (Roy) Martin of Darlington and Pam (Johnny) Etheridge of Darlington; a special friend, Debbie Floyd of Florence; sisters, Pearl Shepard of Darlington and Jimmie Lee Thames of Marion; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, PO Box 96011, Washington, DC20090-6011, or www.alz.org. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, July 5, 2012 College Park Baptist Church.Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion, SC directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 10 – 11 AM Thursday prior to the services at the church. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Pee Dee Gardens for the comfort and care given to Mrs. Brown.
