Eugene Francis Griebel, 76, of Florence, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2015. Mr. Griebel was born in Brookville, PA, a son of the late Samuel Griebel and Mary Agnes Engel Griebel.He was a veteran of the US Air Force.Mr. Griebel worked with WBTW until 1963 when he went to work for DuPont as a mechanic until he retired after twenty-seven years of employment there.He was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church and an avid bowler. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his a grandson, Matthew Griebel; a great-granddaughter, Angel Mincey, and two brothers, Samuel Griebel and Bernard Griebel. Surviving are his children, Martha Jean Griebel of Florence, Katherine (George) Toro of Phoenix, Anne (Harvey) Maddrix of Georgetown, FL and Joseph Eugene Griebel of Florence and their mother, Martha Perritt Griebel of Florence; grandsons, Michael Raymond Mincey of Darlington and Ryan Samuel Griebel of Florence; great-grandchildren, Alexander Mincey and Taylor Mincey and his brother, Jerome (Arlene) Griebel of Lucinda, PA. A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, June 5, 2015 at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. A private burial will be held at Florence National Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the food bank or building fund at St. Anne Catholic Church, 113 S Kemp Street, Florence, SC 29506 or to Harvest Hope, 2513 W Lucas St # 5, Florence, SC 29501.
