Eugene Allen Lewis

Eugene Allen Lewis Florence, SC Eugene Allen Lewis, 84, of Florence, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2012 in a local hospital. Mr. Lewis was born in Charleston, SC, a son of the late George C. and Lila Bannister Lewis, Sr.He was the Owner/Operator of Carolina Barber and Beauty Supply. Mr. Lewis was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the Signal Corp with the III Infantry Division of the US Army. He was a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church and the Frances Asbury Sunday School Class. Mr. Lewis loved and was devoted to God, his family, and church. Mr. Lewis is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 56 years, Marie Bowick Lewis; and a brother, George C. Lewis, Jr. Mr. Lewis is survived by two nieces, Vetra L. (Leslie) Bennett, and Deborah L. (Winfield) DeWitt, both of Florence; great-nieces and nephews, Amanda B. Todd, Bryan L. Bennett, and Megan L. DeWitt, all of Florence; and by a loving canine companion, Tiger. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Highland Park United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The family will receive friends 10-11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
