Ethelmae “Effie” Helms Gregg went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 29, 2017.Matthew 25:21:Well done my good and faithful servant. Mrs. Gregg was the daughter of Dr. Carlos and Amilee Helms of Darlington.She was born on June 16, 1923; graduated from St. John’s High School, and attended Limestone College. She is predeceased by her husband, Walter (Bill) Gregg, Sr.She is survived by her children, Frances Mozingo (Ethan), Walter Gregg, Jr. (Kim), and Helen Holladay (Red); and grandchildren, Allen Mozingo, Todd Mozingo, Philip Mozingo, Anna Holladay Horne (Justin), Morgan Holladay, and Hunter Gregg. Effie was a wonderful, loving wife, mother and grandmother.One of her greatest joys in life was travelling with the Holiday Ramblers Camping Club.She and Bill spent many years travelling all over the country and Canada.Effie also loved her church (Hopewell Presbyterian), singing in the choir, working with bible school, visiting with elderly members, making her famous pound cake for fundraisers, and helping with any other area of need.In her leisure time, she loved working on puzzles, knitting, reading, and teaching her grandkids how to play card and board games.What brought Effie the most pleasure was spending time with her family and friends. She spent her last days at home surrounded by family, and caregiver, Rhonda Irish. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 3, 2017, at Florence National Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.The family will receive friends from 5 – 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, 2017, at her residence.
