Esther Dora Carnell

Esther Dora Carnell, 85, of Florence, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, March 7, 2014, at her residence. Mrs. Carnell was born in Florence County, a daughter of the late Troy Nelson Brown and Dora Gause Brown.She was a graduate of J. C. Lynch High School in Coward.Mrs. Carnell was a charter member of First Free Will Baptist Fellowship.She was a current member of Sandhill Free Will Baptist Church in Coward where she served in many capacities of the church.She worked in the business office at McLeod Regional Medical Center for thirty-seven years. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by five siblings and a grandson. Surviving are her husband of sixty-seven years, John H. Carnell; her children, Donna (Ronnie) Nissen, Connie Weaver, John (Miriam) Carnell, Trina Carnell and Vanessa (Joseph A.) Oliver, all of Florence; her grandchildren, Jeff Coleman, Jessica N. Ward, Chris Coleman, Joshua Carnell, Tracey Strickland, Jared Carnell, Brooke Oliver, and Landon John Oliver; six great-grandchildren, and her sister, Peggy Reynolds of Effingham. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, March 9, 2014, at Sandhill Free Will Baptist Church.Burial will follow at Gause Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Sandhill Free Will Baptist Church, 1090 W. Old Number 4 Highway, Coward, SC29530.
