ERVIN OTIS TANNER MURRELLS INLET, SC Ervin Otis “E.O.” Tanner, 90, of Murrells Inlet, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2017. Mr. Tanner was born in Georgetown Co., SC a son of the late Alvin Bartley Tanner and Bertie Fenters Tanner.He was a member of Palmetto Street Church of God.E.O. spent much of his time doing mission work in Honduras.He built 25 churches in Honduras, and contributed to many other mission projects. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Daisy, siblings, Minton Tanner, D.L. Tanner, Gussie Jones, Pat Baxley, J.P. Baxley, Mary James, Annie Thornton and Elerbe Baxley and granddaughter, Merisa Ellen Tanner. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Hester Tanner of Murrells Inlet; son, Marcus (Wanda) Tanner, Sr. of Georgetown; daughter, Ramona Miriam Tanner and Gwendolyn G. (Jamie Deale) Tanner, both of Southport, NC; grandchildren, Hope Tanner (Benji) Pegram, Marcus (Leslie) Tanner, Jr. and Matthew (Erin) Tierney; great-grandchildren, Macy Pegram, Jack Pegram, Molly Tierney, Quinn Tierney, Colleen Tierney, Anne Tierney and Leah Tierney; sister, Faye Wall of Kingstree, SC; a host of nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved and his best friend of over 50 years, J.D. (Audrey) Stepp. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a gift to Mechanicsville Baptist Church, Nicaragua/Honduras Ministries, In Honor of E.O. The family will receive friends from 1 -2 PM Monday, January 30, 2017 at Palmetto Street Church of God and other times at the home of Hope Pegram, 1874 Partridge Circle, Florence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday at the Palmetto Street Church of God.Burial will follow in Florence Memorial Gardens directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
