Ernest Franklin Powell

Ernest Franklin Powell, 83, of Florence, SC passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2021. Mr. Powell was born in Florence, SC a son of the late Narl Armstrong Powell and Hallie Taylor Powell.He was a US Army veteran and retired from Progress Energy.He was a member of Liberty Chapel United Methodist Church, was a member of the Hampton Lodge # 204 AFM, and a Shriner. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Diana McNair Powell; and sister, Jeanette Cochran. Surviving are his brother, Ashley Grier, a number of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Memorials may be made to Liberty Chapel United Methodist Church, 6323 E. Liberty Chapel Road, Florence, SC29506 or to McLeod Hospice, PO Box 100551, Florence SC29502. The family will receive friends from 2 – 3 pm Monday, July 26, 2021 at Liberty Chapel United Methodist Church with the service to be held at 3:00 pm in the church sanctuary.Burial will follow in the church cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
