Eris Singletary Smith Effingham, SC Eris Singletary Smith, 86, of Effingham, passed away on March 11, 2013 in a local health care facility after an illness. Mrs. Smith was born in Coward, SC, a daughter of the late Ervin R. and Loyse Gause Singletary. She was the owner and operator for over sixty years of Smith's Grocery Store in Evergreen.Mrs. Smith was a member of Lebanon Free Will Baptist Church and a member of the Pineland Garden Club. She is preceded in death in addition to her parents by her husband, A.E. Smith, Jr. and a son, Almon Wayne "Frog" Smith. Surviving are two sons, James E. Smith, of Florence, and Timothy David (Karen) Smith, of Effingham; three daughters, Jackie S. (Marion) Brown, of Florence, Judy S. Jones, of Effingham, and Eris Gail Smith, of Florence; two grandsons who she raised as her own sons, Jamie and Mikie Smith both of Florence; nine grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 14, 2013 in the chapel of Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.Burial will follow at Singletary Cemetery in Coward, SC. Memorials may be made to Singletary Cemetery, P. O. Box 333, Coward, SC29530 or to Lebanon Free Will Baptist Church, 7001 Friendfield Road, Effingham, 29541. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home. The family wishes to thank her special caregivers, Sharon Graham and Rachell Pringle, the Nightingale Services and the McLeod Hospice House.
