Elwood "Woody" Austin Brinson

Elwood Austin “Woody” Brinson, 77, of Florence, passed away Monday, November 12, 2018 after an illness. Woody was born in Loris, a son of the late John Austin and Alberta Hardee Brinson. He was a veteran of the US Army. Woody was the founder and Owner/Operator of Woody’s Cycle Shop for many years and the co-owner of S & W Racing.He was a member of the Black Creek Coon Hunters Association, National Redbone Association and American Redbone Association. Woody was the owner of World Champion Redbone Coon Hound in 2010. He was a member of Florence Baptist Temple. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Rebecca Brant “Becky” Brinson of the home; daughter, Cindy Brinson of Florence; brother, Hoyt Brinson (Paulette) of Loris; sister Lenell Porter (Joseph) ofMonroe, NC, three grandchildren, Kali Brewer, Harleigh Brewer and Gage Brewer; sisters-in-law, Mary Brinson and Linda Smith; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Shelby Jean Reaves and husband, Joe Reaves; brother, Herman Brinson; and brother-in-law, Otis Smith. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, November 14, 2018, at the funeral home. Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday, November 15, 2018, at Florence Baptist Temple directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Burial will take place at a later date in the Florence National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 107 Westpark Boulevard Suite 150, Columbia, SC 29210.
