ELWOOD CREEL TAYLOR Florence, S.C. Mamie Elwood Creel Taylor, 83, of Florence, died Wednesday, September 22, 2010 in a Florence hospital after an illness. Mrs. Taylor was born in Cordesville, S.C. a Daughter of the late William Davis and Bartell Wallace Creel James. As a long-time member of Liberty Chapel United Methodist Church, she was a member of the Womens’ Circle and the Adult Sunday School Class, and was a former teacher of the Senior Adult and Young Adult Sunday School Classes. She was a graduate of Epworth Childrens’ Home. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Harmon Taylor, who died in 1995, and her parents, four brothers, and one sister. Surviving are her son, Harmon Davis (Cathy) Taylor of Florence; 2 daughters; Diane Taylor (Houston) Stephens and Linda Taylor (Phil) Harris, both of Florence; 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 24, 2010 in the chapel of Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Liberty Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
