Elva Johnston Wooten

Elva Johnston Wooten, 84, of Florence, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at the McLeod Hospice House. Mrs. Wooten was born in Marion County, SC, a daughter of the late Rudy E. Johnston, Sr. and Ruth Williams Johnston Calhoun.She was a charter member of Unity Baptist Church and a master gardener.Mrs. Wooten was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wooten is preceded in death by her son, Timothy Johnston Wooten, and five brothers and her sisters. Surviving are husband of 60 years, David “Red” F. Wooten, Sr.; her children, David F. (Terri) Wooten, Jr. of Hickory, NC and George “Rusty” Russell Wooten of Effingham; three grandchildren, David (Kristin) Wooten, III, Warren Wooten and Teagan Wooten; two great-grandchildren, Kylie Wooten and Lukas Wooten; and her brother, Rudy Johnston, Jr. of Cross, SC ; two sisters, Rudene Hucks and Billie Johnson, both of Myrtle Beach, SC and daughter-in-law, Deneen Wooten. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, March 28, 2014, at Florence Memorial Garden Mausoleum Chapel.Entombment will follow directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
