Elsy West Anderson

Elsy West Anderson, 94, of Columbia, formerly of Florence, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 28, 2018.She was born in Philadelphia on November 17, 1923 to Irene and Frank West.Elsy lived a full life and never met a stranger, always nourishing those around her with love, faith, and friendship. Throughout her life, Elsy remained active in various religious, craft, and volunteer organizations, including the Round Town Squares, Room For Neighbors, Florence Friendship Club, Visitors Community, Swamp Fox Night Owl Quilters, the Frances Major Rank Methodist Women and the Wesley Bible Sunday School Class at Highland Park United Methodist Church, where she was an active member for sixty years. Elsy is survived by her beloved husband of 75 years, Robert C. Anderson of Columbia (formerly of Florence); son, Robert F. Anderson of Columbia; son-in-law, Craig Jackson of Jefferson, NC; grandchildren, Dr. Margaret Kihlstrom (Kelsey) of Raleigh, NC, Andrew Jackson of Jefferson, NC, Robert Anderson (Carly) of Los Angeles, CA, Laura Anderson (Julien) of Ljubljana, Slovenia, and Kathryn Westurn (Tyler) of Goose Creek, SC; and six great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her daughter, Sandra A. Jackson and her daughter-in-law, Elizabeth C. Anderson. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 6, 2018 at Highland Park United Methodist Church.Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
