Ella Sue Mims

Ella “Sue” Mims, 85, of Florence, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at McLeod Hospice on Tuesday, October 6, 2026.

Born January 4, 1941, in Alabama, Ella Sue was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She was retired from Rental Uniform Service after many years of employment. Her family was an important part of her life, and she was deeply loved by those closest to her.

Ella Sue was married for 61 years to her beloved husband, Fredmont “Fred” Mims, who preceded her in death in 2021. Together, they raised four children and were blessed with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Susan Mims Thomas (Jim), Pamela Mims Edgerton (Oliver), and Sherry Mims Shiffert (Grant); and her grandchildren, Brandy Thomas Doughty (Jason), Jamie Thomas French (Travis), Billy Christopher Watford, Trey Justin Watford (Ashley), Rebecca Mims Deas, Olivia Shiffert, and Avery Shiffert; and 7 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fredmont “Fred” Mims; her son, Kevin Mims; her mother, Opal Inez Sexton Beck; her stepfather, Thomas D. Beck; and by her brother and sisters.

Sue will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family and all who knew her.
