Elizabeth "Lib" Stokes Ellis

Elizabeth "Lib" Stokes Ellis, 93, passed away Saturday, 29th of December 2018, at home in Florence surrounded by family after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's. She was born in Florence County the 24th of November 1925, the daughter of L.H. Stokes Sr. and Mary Wade Stokes. After graduating from Florence High School in 1945, she married the love of her life, the late Millard Alden "M.A." Ellis Jr., and shared their life together for 68 years. She was a lifetime member of Calvary Baptist Church in Florence, South Carolina. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whom was fondly known as "Mammy". She is preceded in death by her husband, Milliard Alden "M.A." Ellis Jr.; son, Marvin Ray Ellis; sons-in-law, Rogers Lucas Moody Sr. & Fredrick Woodfall Nash II; brother, L.H. Stokes, Jr.; and sister, Mary Frances Stokes Dubose. She is survived by her children, Delores "Dee" Ellis Nash, Maurice Randall "Randy" (Helan) Ellis, Rosemary Waddell Ellis, Marcia Ellis Moody, Charles Lencie "Charlie" (Libby) Ellis, all of Florence, South Carolina; grandchildren, Brandon Ellis Yonce, Charlotte Marie Ellis, Ashley Ellis (Nathan) Neighbors, Dana Raye Moody, Thomas Alden (Deanna) Ellis, Clayton Tyler (Meredith) Ellis, M.D., Charles Lencie "Chaz" Ellis Jr, Damon Ellis (Rabin) Moody, Caroline Elizabeth Ellis, Eric Todd (Megan) Ellis, Rogers Lucas Moody Jr.; seventeen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sally Stokes Baker & Betty Stokes Evans; and her beloved dog, Kayla Belle. The family would like to give special recognition to long-time friends Georgia Belin, Debbie Wolfe, Susan Russell, and caregivers, Darlene Turner and Agape Hospice Services. Visitation will be held at 10:00 am in the Worship Center at Hoffmeyer Road Baptist Church (2317 Hoffmeyer Road) on Wednesday, the 2nd of January 2019, with a Memorial Service and celebration of her life to be held at 11:00 am under the direction of Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Services will be conducted by her grandsons, Reverend Alden Ellis, Reverend Nathan Neighbors, and Chaz Ellis.
