Elizabeth Hux Dickens

Elizabeth Hux Dickens, 89, of Florence, SC, passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2020. Mrs. Dickens was born a daughter of the late Mabel Adkins Hux and Calude Henry Hux.She was a Registered Nurse for 43 years with Florence General Hospital and Carolinas Hospital.She enjoyed keeping babies at Highland Park United Methodist Church where she was a charter member. She was a devoted Pastor’s wife, mother and grandmother. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Joseph Ashley Dickens, Jr.; son, John Forrest Dickens; and sister, Jeanette Behlman. Mrs. Dickens is survived by her son, Joseph “Joey” Ashley Dickens, III of Midland, NC; daughters, Sara Jane McKissick (Larry) and Rebecca “Becky” Dickens Cox, both of Florence; grandchildren, James “Jay” Ashley McKissick, Angela Elizabeth Gensel (Richard), Joseph Ashley Dickens, IV, Chelsea D. Parks (Justin) and Jordan Ashley Cox; great-grandchildren, Megan Elizabeth McKissick, Jackson McKissick, Emma Grace Gensel, Trey Gensel, Ben Gensel; Brantley Parks and Cora Parks; and sisters, Margie Ingledue of Iowa and Virginia Tippett of Raleigh, NC. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at Mount Hope Mausoleum Chapel directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at the cemetery on Tuesday.The family will not be present but friends are invited to come by the funeral home from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM on Monday to pay their respects. Due to the current COVID-19 concerns, social distancing will be observed.
