Elizabeth Hux Dickens, 89, of Florence, SC, passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2020. Mrs. Dickens was born a daughter of the late Mabel Adkins Hux and Calude Henry Hux.She was a Registered Nurse for 43 years with Florence General Hospital and Carolinas Hospital.She enjoyed keeping babies at Highland Park United Methodist Church where she was a charter member. She was a devoted Pastor’s wife, mother and grandmother. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Joseph Ashley Dickens, Jr.; son, John Forrest Dickens; and sister, Jeanette Behlman. Mrs. Dickens is survived by her son, Joseph “Joey” Ashley Dickens, III of Midland, NC; daughters, Sara Jane McKissick (Larry) and Rebecca “Becky” Dickens Cox, both of Florence; grandchildren, James “Jay” Ashley McKissick, Angela Elizabeth Gensel (Richard), Joseph Ashley Dickens, IV, Chelsea D. Parks (Justin) and Jordan Ashley Cox; great-grandchildren, Megan Elizabeth McKissick, Jackson McKissick, Emma Grace Gensel, Trey Gensel, Ben Gensel; Brantley Parks and Cora Parks; and sisters, Margie Ingledue of Iowa and Virginia Tippett of Raleigh, NC. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at Mount Hope Mausoleum Chapel directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at the cemetery on Tuesday.The family will not be present but friends are invited to come by the funeral home from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM on Monday to pay their respects. Due to the current COVID-19 concerns, social distancing will be observed. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Highland Park United Methodist Church, 1300 Second Loop Road, Florence, SC29505 or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
