ELIZABETH “BETTY” BRYANT SNOWDEN HICKS FLORENCE, SC Betty Snowden Hicks, 92, of Florence, passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2017. Mrs. Hicks was born in Darlington, SC, the daughter of the late William Ervin Bryant and Grace Mills Bryant.She was a graduate of St. John’s High School and worked in child care.She was a former member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and a current member of Calvary Baptist Church where she was a member of the Women’s Circle. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Thomas M. Snowden, who passed away in 1976, and Nople J. Hicks, who passed away in 2000; daughter-in-law, Carol J. Snowden;brothers, William “Bill” E. Bryant, Jr., Edward “Ed” M. (Alice) Bryant, and Robert “Bob” L. (Carolyn) Bryant. Surviving are her sons, Thomas M. (Deborah) Snowden, Jr. of Albuquerque, NM, E. Keith Snowden, Stephen B. (Jayne) Snowden, and J. Douglas (Deryl) Snowden, all of Florence; daughter, Sarah S. (David) Thomas of Florence; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren; and special sister-in-law, Claudia Burley, of Florence. The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, at Florence Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the residence of Doug and Deryl Snowden, 3144 Creek Road, Timmonsville, following the service.
