ELAINE PROSSER Florence, S.C. Elaine T. Prosser, 66, died peacefully on Saturday, October 9, 2010, with her family by her side in Spartanburg, S.C. She had recently been diagnosed with cancer. Her family will be receiving visitors Monday from 6-8:00 P.M. at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 12, 2010 in Southside Baptist Church, and she will be laid to rest in Florence Memorial Gardens. She was born in Green Sea, S.C. to Edwin and Grace Turner. Elaine was predeceased by her husband, Troy Lee Prosser. She is survived by her son, Lee Prosser, and his wife Sarah, and by her beloved Grandson, Logan. She is also survived by her sister, Sylvia Anne Turner Derrick of Columbia, her brother, Stephen E. Turner of Myrtle Beach and her nieces and nephews; Kappy D. Cannon, Lynn Derrick, Jr., Eddy Turner, Glenn Turner, Blake Turner, and Penny Rowe-Keaton. Elaine was a long-time active member of Southside Baptist Church. She was extremely involved and adored the members of her Sunday School Class. She loved to bowl and was truly Clemson’s number one fan. The only thing Elaine loved more than watching Clemson play was spending time with her family, and especially her grandson Logan. She was a dedicated teacher, who served the children of McLaurin Elementary School in Florence District One for 35 years. She is best remembered by her students as the teacher who would not allow them to fail. She stayed after school daily, providing tutoring, popcorn, and drinks without expecting anything in return. Children at McLaurin excelled in math due to her belief that all children can learn, some just needed more time. Elaine will be missed by her family, friends, and her community.
