Edward James Hickey, Sr.

Edward James Hickey, Sr., 74, of Florence, passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2023. Mr. Hickey was born in Florence, SC a son of the late William Edward Hickey, Sr. and Meredith Turner Hickey. He retired as Administrator from the Department of Disabilities and Special Needs after 45 years. He was an active member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Summerville, was involved in Kairos Prison Ministry for 14 years, and was a member of “As Bill Sees It”. Edward was a loving husband, wonderful Pop, and had a tremendous faith in the Lord. Surviving are his wife, Sandra Williams Hickey; sons, Edward James “Jamie” Hickey, Jr. and Erik W. Hickey; grandchildren, Dylon, Justin, Kai, Kimo, Allie, Mary Beth, and Gracie; great-grandchild, Eli; sister, Emma Huggins; and sister-in-law, Carol Hickey. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
