Edna Olean Griffin

Edna Olean Griffin, 79, of Effingham, SC died peacefully with her loving family around her on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Carolinas Hospital.She no longer knows pain. Olean was born in Florence Co., September 25, 1939.She was the daughter of the late Johnny and Anna Cusaac Welch.She was a graduate of Bonaire High School and Anderson College.She taught music for a year at Hemingway School and worked several years for SCN Bank before her health failed her.She then taught private piano lessons at home and was a homemaker.She was a member of Effingham Presbyterian Church where she was their organist for 54 years. She was predeceased by two brothers, Harold Welch and Linell Welch and one sister Miriam Ann Welch. Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Gerald Wayne Griffin of the home; daughter, Tammy Griffin of Effingham; son, Roger Griffin of Timmonsville; granddaughters, Brooke Griffin of Florence and Taylor (Weston) Griffin of Timmonsville; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Memorials may be made to the Effingham Presbyterian Church Music Fund, 526 E. Effingham Highway, Effingham, SC29541 or to a charity of one’s choice. The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 pm Saturday at the Effingham Presbyterian Church with the service to follow in the church sanctuary at 2:00 PM.Burial will take place in Lebanon Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
