EDITH POLLY BURCH HOLDEN Florence, S.C. EDITH POLLY BURCH HOLDEN, 89, of Florence, died Sunday, March 27, 2011 in a Florence healthcare facility after an illness. Mrs. Holden was born in Florence, a daughter of the late Maxie and Edith White Burch. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church and a homemaker. She had been active as a volunteer for McLeod Hospice, as well as the Mental Health Association, having taught Grief Therapy, and serving on the "Hot Line". She also served as Guardian Ad Litem for Florence County. Surviving are her daughter, Patti (Steve) Hodge of Florence; Grandchildren, Matthew Dewey of Korea, Elizabeth Ann (Jacyn) Palmer, Martha Jo Armstrong and Susannah Armstrong, all of Florence; Great-Grandchildren; Aydin Palmer and Ava Izabella Palmer, both of Florence. She was preceded in death by her husband, Preston Holden, who died in 1972. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 31, 2011 at the Florence National Cemetery.
