Eddie Faye Baker, 82, of Florence, South Carolina, passed from this life into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on May 28, 2026. Born on March 1, 1944, in New Zion, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the South in every sense — warm, faithful, and full of grace.
Eddie Faye was a devoted Christian who lived her faith not just on Sunday mornings in the pews of New Hope Family Worship Center, where she remained a faithful member until her passing, but in every kindness she extended and every meal she placed on the table. She had a gift for making people feel loved simply by being in her presence, and those who knew her will tell you there was no sweeter soul to be found.
For many years, she was a dedicated employee of Mike Reichenbach Ford in Florence, where she served with the same warmth and reliability she brought to everything she touched. But if you asked Eddie Faye herself, her greatest and most cherished title was Grandma. She poured herself into her five grandchildren with a love that was patient, joyful, and unconditional.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Audrey Harrington Johnson and John McKuren Johnson, Jr.; her beloved husband, David Gerald Baker, Sr.; her sister, Diane Johnson; and her grandson, Hayden Baker.
She is survived by her sons, David Gerald Baker, Jr. of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, and Eddie McKuren Baker of Florence, South Carolina; her grandchildren, Kacie Thompson (Ryan), David Gerald Baker III “Trey” (Julia), Reece Baker, and Carly Baker; her great-grandchildren, Baker Thompson and Mila Rose Baker; and her dear sisters, Mary Eppie Baylor (Timmy) and Johnnie Lynn Floyd (Earl).
The visitation will be held Sunday, May 31, 2026 at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home from 4:00-6:00 PM.
The funeral service will be held Monday, June 1, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
Burial will follow at Midway Presbyterian Church Cemetery in New Zion, SC at 4:00 PM.
Eddie Faye Baker loved the Lord, loved her family, and loved well. She will be deeply missed and long remembered.
