Earline Smith Knowlton

Earline Smith Knowlton, 73, LaGrange, GA, died Wednesday morning, April 8, 2015 in a LaGrange healthcare facility after an illness. Mrs. Knowlton was born in Horry County, a daughter of the later Claude O. Smith and Louise L. Smith. She was a 1960 graduate of Loris High School and a 1961 graduate of the Saunders Memorial School of Nursing. She was a member of Unity Baptist Church in Florence.She was an avid sports enthusiast, particularly of the USC Gamecocks and the Duke Blue Devils.She always enjoyed a good laugh and caused laughter in all she met.She loved her family dearly. She was preceded in death by her father and mother; and two brothers, Frankie D. Smith and Brooks O’Neal Smith and a sister, Geraldine S. Lemler. Surviving are her son, Winifred Wayne Knowlton, Jr. of New Zion; her daughter, Susan Knowlton (Sammy) Coe of LaGrange, GA; grandchildren Mack “Tripp” Beard, III andSusanna Louise Beard, both of Lake City, Justin Knowlton of New Zion, and Kristen Breez Knowlton of Franklin, GA; step-grandson, Marcus Coe of Manchester, TN; step- granddaughters, Candi (Jordan) Davis of Chattanooga, TN and Brandy (Jonathan) Fincher of Biloxi, MS; brothers, Buster (Carol) Smith of Antwerp, NY and Hoyt J. (Evonne) of Loris, SC; sisters, Claudine Smith (Bill) Robertson of Loris, SC, Edna Smith (Vic) Phillips of Florence, SC and many friends. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Unity Baptist Church followed by the funeral services at 2:00 p.m.Interment will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
