E. O'Brian Buffkin

E. O’Brian “Buff” Buffkin, 87, of Florence, SC passed away Thursday, August 10, 2017. Mr. Buffkin was born November 5, 1929 in Columbus County, NC a son of the late Derwood Buffkin and Annie Buffkin. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church since 1966. Buff was a former Deacon Chairman and taught Sunday School at Ebenezer Baptist Church. He was a member of the Florence Lion’s Club. Mr. Buffkin served in the United States Coast Guard during the Korean Conflict and also served as a Merchant Marine. He retired as a Vice President for Peoples Federal Savings and Loans. Mr. Buffkin is preceded in death by his parents Derwood and Annie Buffkin; two brothers, Max Buffkin and D.B. Buffkin, Jr; a sister, Karl Buffkin; and two grandchildren, Ryan Drake Buffkin, survived by his wife, Kathryn and daughter, Olivia and Michael Gary Buffkin, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Hickman Buffkin of Florence; three sons, Greg (Cathy) Buffkin of Florence, Mike Buffkin of Florence and Darryl (Tammy) Buffkin of Murrells Inlet; a brother, James Waldo Buffkin; a former daughter-in-law, Regina Buffkin of Florence; three grandchildren, Whitney Buffkin (Brad) Turner, Hogan Benton (Katie) Buffkin and Jennifer Leigh (Joe) Catalano; and five great-grandchildren, William Elijah Turner, Olivia Harper Buffkin, Mikaela Grace Buffkin, Layla Grace Catalano and Noah Sterling Catalano; and his beloved grand dogs, Yukon and Bella. A private memorial service for Mr. Buffkin will be held at a later date, conducted by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Embrace Hospice - 1831 W.
