Doward Belmont Mcconnell

Doward Belmont McConnell, Jr., 77, of Florence, SC, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at the McLeod Hospice House. Mr. McConnell was born in Andrews, SC, a son of the late Edith Mae Benton McConnell and Doward Belmont McConnell, Sr.He was a member of Florence Baptist Temple and a former member of Swamp Fox Car Club.Mr. McConnell was the owner and operator of Doward’s Transmission until his retirement. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wives, Shelby Jeannette McConnell and Allie Mae McConnell. Surviving are his daughter, Misty Jeannette McConnell- Newell (Randall); grandchild, Jay R. Newell; the children of Allie McConnell, Donna Lisa Odom McElveen and Donald J. Odom and their children, Destiny Caso, Rodney Caso, Matthew Joseph Odom and Georgia Odom; sisters, Geraldine M. Wheeler (Tipton) and Carol M. Spence (Sam); and brother, Gerry R. McConnell (Karen). Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, January 11, 2019, in the Florence Baptist Temple Chapel.Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
