Douglas Odell Taylor, 90, of Florence, passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2016. Mr. Taylor was born in Lexington County, SC, the son of the late Noah Franklin Taylor and Jessie Lee Smith.He was a veteran of the US Marines serving four years and served one year in the US Navy, including during WWII. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal and the U. N. Service Medal.Mr. Taylor was a self- employed carpenter and a member of the American Legion.He loved the outdoors, especially fishing. Surviving are his grandchildren, Mark Taylor, Paul Taylor, Bonnie (Bobby) Lloyd and Jennifer (Josh) Granade; great-grandchildren, Cassy Lloyd, Chris Mishue, Fletcher Taylor, Keaton Taylor and Liam Granade; and brothers, Leon Davis Taylor, M. G. Taylor and Alton Grant Taylor and his special friend, Hector Lugo. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Lila Taylor, and son, Danny Taylor. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 29, 2016, at Florence Memorial GardensChapel directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Family will receive friends on Friday from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Florence Memorial Gardens Chapel. Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
