Douglas Alexander "Alex" Shores

Douglas Alexander “Alex” Shores, 56, of Effingham, SC, passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 after a six year battle with kidney failure. Alex was born the son of the late Douglas Shores and Cheryl Hart Shores. He was the owner/operator of Shores Heating & Air for more than 30 years and was a former fireman with the Howe Springs and Florence City Fire Departments. He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie Shores; son, Michael “Mike” (Alicia) Sawyer of Dallas, GA and their children, Michael Sawyer, Jr., Garrett Sawyer, Daniel Sawyer, Gabriel Sawyer, and Etta-Lynn Sawyer; son, Nick (Cheryl) Sawyer of Dallas, GA and their children, Kaiden and Bryson Sawyer; son, Blake Shores (Nancy Caroline Floyd) of Effingham, SC with the eighth grandchild due in May; sister, Angela “Cissy” Shores of Atlanta, GA. Memorials may be made to the American Kidney Fund, www.kidneyfund.org. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 pm Sunday, March 5, 2023 at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, March 6, 2023 in the funeral home chapel with burial to follow in Florence Memorial Gardens.
