Dorothy Dean Jeffords

Dorothy Dean Harris Green Jeffords, 95, of Florence, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2016. Mrs. Jeffords was born in McClellanville, SC, a daughter of the late John C. Harris and Loretta Humbert Harris.She was a long-time member of Florence Baptist Temple and retired from the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs.She loved her church, her pastor and his wife, studying her Bible, working in her yard, sewing, crocheting, reading and cooking.Mrs. Jeffords was happiest when she was cooking or caring for someone or planting something in the yard. She loved her neighbors that she had on Myrtle Drive and considered them like family since she had lived there for forty two years. Surviving are children, Lib (Frank) Brown of Goldsboro, NC, Cheryl (Franz) Evans of Greenville, SC, Glenda Montrose of Florence, and Dorothy G. (Billy) Threadgill of Florence; daughter-in-law, Cathy Benton; grandchildren, Steve Brown, Sherry Brown, Bobby Evans, Lee Green, Allen Montrose, Chip Threadgill and Michael Threadgill; 13 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren and a loving extended family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Jessie Glenn Green and Willie Jeffords; her son, Leon Green; and her siblings, Lilly Mae Wiggins, Lucille Sutler, Una Guthrie and Louise Minker. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2016 in the Florence Baptist Temple Chapel directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Interment will be private. Family will receive friends immediately following the service at the Church.
