Dorothy Mae Davis

Dorothy Mae Davis, 86, of Florence, SC, passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2016, at McLeod Hospice House surrounded by her family. Mrs. Davis was born in Florence County, a daughter of the late Connie Zeddie Hicks and Zola Mae Stone Hicks. She was the ninth of ten children.Mrs. Davis attended Liberty Methodist Church and worked as an assistant to Amelia Wallace. Surviving are her daughters, Carol (Samuel) Thompkins of Florence, Linda (Richard) Wood of Georgetown and Jane Parker of Florence; seven grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Ann Bigelow of Florence and also by her “Yankee” daughter, Ellen Lee, now of Florence. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Walker Davis; her daughter, Connie Davis, and eight brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 on Sunday, July 3, 2016, at the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel.Burial will follow at Bethel Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
