Dorothy Jean Core

Dorothy “Dot” Jean West Core, 81, of Florence, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, April 6, 2015. Mrs. Core was born in Erwin, NC, a daughter of the late Evander West and Ida Lee West.She loved cross-stitching and quilting and was a very talented seamstress and interior decorator.Mrs. Core was a faithful member of Palmetto Street Church of God and served in many capacities including Sunday School Teacher, Blue Bell Teacher, a member of the Women’s Ministry and Past Chairman of the Visitation Committee. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Pat West and A. V. West; two sisters, Ludie Watts and Ruby Jackson and her granddaughter, Lisa Core. Surviving are her husband, Earnie Alton Core; sons, Craig (Marsha) Core of Lakeland, FL and Jeff (Brenda) Core of Port Tobacco, MD; grandchildren, Steven Wayne (Amber) Core, Jason (Erin) Core, Charity (Tom) Kruse, Aaron (Olivia) Core, Melissa (Casey) Flerlage and Abigail Core; great-grandchildren, Elisha Core, Kaylee Core, Emma Core and Makayla Core and many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2015, at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
