Doris Shaw Weatherford

Doris Shaw Weatherford, 90, of Mars Bluff, SC, passed away on Wednesday, June4, 2014, at McLeod Hospice House. Mrs. Weatherford was born in Marion County, a daughter of the late Ellie Shaw and Flora Bell Lewis Shaw.She was a member of Mizpah Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher.She was also a member of the Sally Smith Sunday School Class and a member of the WMU.She retired from Florence Public School District.Mrs. Weatherford loved life and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Everyone was always made to feel welcome in her home and no one ever left there empty handed. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her children, Betty Weatherford Porter, Harry Weatherford and Susie Weatherford; a great-grandchild; a great-great grandchild; and seven brothers and sisters. Surviving are her children, Jack (Diane) Weatherford and Robbie (Kay) Weatherford, both of Florence, Margaret Ann Gainey of Darlington, Janice (Paul) Poston of Florence, Judy (Tommy) Shelly of Darlington, Billy Weatherford and Rita Weatherford Pattillo, both of Florence; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 6, 2014, at Mizpah Baptist Church.Burial will follow in Mizpah Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Family received friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Mizpah Baptist Church Youth Fund, 233 N.
