Doris Ann Konnerup, age 85, of Springfield MO, passed away Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Mercy Hospital. She was born December 23, 1929, in Meadow Creek, W.V. to Frank and Hallie Monroe. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Rev. Leonard Maddy and a son Keith Maddy. She is survived by her loving husband, Richard Konnerup, Springfield; seven children, Kenna Maddy, Kathy Cornett, Jacque Burkholder, Ole Konnerup, Eric Konnerup, Jon Konnerup, and Kristina Dutton; over thirty grandchildren; and great-grandchildren of which she always remembered their birthdays by sending a card and a little bit of change; three brothers, Jim Monroe, Bill Monroe, and Paul Monroe; and a host of family and friends. Ann was involved in Christian Education and missionary work for most of her life. She was instrumental in the founding of Florence Christian School and also taught at Nassau Christian School in Nassau, Bahamas. Ann was united in marriage to Rev. Richard Konnerup on August 24, 1990 in Florence SC, and they served together as missionaries in Kenya for 25 years. Ann enjoyed reading and will always be remembered as a prayer warrior. She was a member of Cherry Street Baptist Church in Springfield, Missouri. A celebration of Ann’s life will be Thursday, August 6, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., at Florence Baptist Temple. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. It would have been Ann’s wish that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Richard Konnerup through the BBFI Mission Office for the Nairobi Baptist Bible College, a ministry of which she was very passionate.
