Donnie L. Young

Donnie L. Young, 68, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2015, at his home after an extended illness. Born July 1, 1946, in Florence, he was the son of the late Clarence Young and the late Eula Lee Bass Young.Donnie served in the United States Army, where he was inducted in October 1, 1963 at Fort Jackson, SC and was discharged on November 8, 1966 at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.He later worked for Carolina Freight Carriers for many years until he retired from ABF Carriers and was disabled. He loved fishing with his wife, children and his best friend, Al Dennis. He loved working with his wife in the yard and spending time with his special friends, Rose and Clyde Mixon. He loved his children and all of his four legged children. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Anne Baker Young of Effingham; his sons, Mark (Crystal) Young of Saluda and Tony (Natalie) Young of Woodstock, GA; daughter, Denise McLendon of Darlington; his four grandchildren, Hunter McLendon, Heather Kissiah, Taylor Young and Brianna Kirby; his two step-grandchildren, Brandi Nicholson and Josh Nicholson; son-in-law, Tony Lee of Evergreen; two great-grandsons, Jackson Kirby and Kingston Ready; and his two fur children, Princess and BJ.He was preceded in death by his brother, Adrian Young; his son, Kenneth Young; his daughter, Angie Lee and his son-in-law, Tony McLendon. Memorial Service will be held as follows: visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home and funeral officiated by Chaplain Glen Carter will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Homewith entombment to follow at Florence Memorial Gardens.
